Abstract

  • In December 2020, out of 90 cities that monitored the national CPI, 87 cities experienced inflation and 3 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Gunungsitoli at 1.87 percent and the lowest occurred in Tanjung Selor at 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Luwuk at -0.26 percent and the lowest at -0.07 percent occurred in Ambon.
  • In the province of Kalimantan Timur (Combined Samarinda and Balikpapan) in December 2020 there was an inflation of 0.25 percent with a calendar year inflation rate and an annual inflation rate of 0.78 percent.
  • In December 2020, inflation for Samarinda Municipality was 0.24 percent and Balikpapan Municipality was 0.25 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in several indexes for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.70 percent; followed by the equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by 0.41 percent; the transportation group of 0.27 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.14 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.11 percent; the health group of 0.06 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.05 percent; and the housing, water, household fuel electricity group of 0.04 percent. For the information, communication and financial services group and personal care and other services group in December 2020 experienced deflation of -0.06 percent and -0.34 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the education group showed a stable index compared to the previous month.
