Abstract

The number of labor force in Kalimantan Timur in August 2020 reached 1,817,680 persons , an increase of 17,239 persons compared to the labor force in August 2019 (1,800,441 person). Meanwhile, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) decreased by -0.46 percentage points.

The number of people working in Kalimantan Timur in August 2020 reached 1,692,796 persons , or decreased by 685 persons compared to the situation in August 2019 (1,693,481 persons).

The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Kalimantan Timur in August 2020 was 6.87 percent or as much as 124.88 thousand persons, which means an increase of 0.93 percentage points or an increase of 17.92 thousand persons compared to August 2019.

In August 2020, as many as 488.46 thousand persons (28.86 percent) worked less than 35 hours per week, while the population worked 35 hours or more per week (including temporarily unemployed) reaching 1.20. million people (71.14 percent).

There are more than 411 thousand persons affected by Covid-19 or 12.04 percent. Consisting of unemployment due to Covid-19 (30.99 thousand persons), BAK due to Covid-19 (14.34 thousand people), temporarily unemployed due to Covid-19 (21.20 thousand persons), and working residents who experienced reduced hours. work because of Covid-19 (344.85 thousand persons).
