Abstract
Kalimantan Timur Province (Combined Kota Samarinda and Kota Balikpapan) in October 2020 experienced deflation of -0.18 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 0.16 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 0.60 percent. • In October 2020, there was deflation for Samarinda City of -0.21 percent and -0.17 percent in Balikpapan City.
Deflation occurred due to a decrease in prices as indicated by the decline in several indexes for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by -0.51 percent; followed by the transportation group by -0.30 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group and personal care and other services group each by -0.07 percent; the information, communication, and financial services group by -0.05 percent and the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by -0.04 percent. Meanwhile, 2 groups showed an increase in the index, namely the health group by 0.06 percent and the clothing and footwear group by 0.01 percent. Groups that showed a stable index compared to the previous month were the recreation, sports and culture group; education group and food and beverage / restaurant supply group.
