Abstract

  • The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) is a composite indicator that shows the level of development of Democracy. The level of achievement is measured based on three aspects of democracy, namely Civil Liberties, Political Rights and Institutions of Democracy.
  • The IDI method uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) Review of local newspapers, (2). Document review (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3). Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) In-depth Interviews.
  • IDI of Kalimantan Timur in 2019 was 77.67, on a scale of 0 to 100. This figure has increased compared to the 2018 IDI number of 73.88. The achievement of democratic performance in East Kalimantan is still in the category of "medium". Classification of the level of democracy is grouped into three categories namely "Good" (index of more than 80), "moderate" (index between 60 - 80), and "Poor" (index of less than 60)
  • Changes in IDI numbers from Kalimantan Timur from 2018 to 2019 are influenced by the development of 3 aspects of democracy, namely (1) Civil liberties which fell 2.49 points (from 90.99 to 88.50), (2) Political rights rose 4.89 points ( from 61.38 to 66.27), and (3) Democratic institutions which rose 9.95 points (from 72.22 to 82.17)
