Abstract

  • Human development in Kalimantan Timur continues to progress, marked by the continued increase in the HDI. In 2019, the Kalimantan Timur HDI reached 76.61, an increase of 0.78 points compared to its HDI in 2018 of 75.83.
  • The progress of human development in Kalimantan Timur in 2019 is accelerating, marked by the growth of HDI which reached 1.03 percent, higher than the 2018 growth of 0.95 percent.
  • In 2019, the status of human development in Kalimantan Timur is in the "High" category. The status is unchanged as in 2018.
  • Each component forming HDI Kalimantan Timur is increased. With the highest growth is for the Income Per Capita (Adjusted) component. While the lowest growth is the Mean Years of Schooling (MYS). The value of Life Expectancy, Expected Years of Schooling (EYS), Mean Years of Schooling (MYS) and Income Per Capita (Adjusted), respectively 74.22 years, 13.69 years, 9.70 years and 12.36 million rupiah.
  • Samarinda Municipality, Balikpapan Municipality and Bontang Municipality reached "Very High" category in human development index
  • The increasing HDI of Kalimantan Timur occurred in all of its region, with the highest HDI is Samarinda Municipality (80.20), while the lowest is Mahakam Ulu Regency (67.58).
