On May 16, 2024, BPS Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regency attended a meeting at the BAPELITBANG PPU office. In this meeting, discussions and data collection were carried out on studies of the impact of population migration to IKN. This meeting began with a presentation from the Population Migration Impact Study Team to IKN, the Population and Social Security Directorate of BAPPENAS to the Government of North Penajam Paser Regency, in this case attended by BAPELITBANG PPU, DISDUKCAPIL PPU, and BPS PPU.

There is an explanation of the objectives of carrying out the study by the BAPPENAS study team, which is followed by responses and hopes from BAPELITBANG PPU so that the central government pays attention to the development of infrastructure and basic service facilities in the IKN buffer area (especially PPU Regency), namely health facilities, drinking water management, electricity, education, etc.

In this meeting, BPS PPU presented an analysis regarding the demographic and socio-cultural impacts on population growth which is projected to peak in 2024 to 2025. Apart from that, it also presented the composition and structure of the population based on age and employment as a result of SAKERNAS 2023 along with future mitigation.

With the involvement of BPS PPU, we hope that the data we provide can maximize planning and development activities.
